We are honoured to introduce Goodwill Ambassadors @KatyPerry and @OrlandoBloom’s new bundle of joy.⠀ ⠀ “We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,” Katy and Orlando told us.⠀ ⠀ “But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was. Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes. Since COVID-19 many more newborn lives are at risk because of the increased lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever.⠀ ⠀ “As UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors, we know UNICEF is there, on the ground, doing whatever it takes to make sure every expecting mother has access to a trained health worker and access to quality healthcare. และทั้งสองก็ใช้การประกาศข่าวน่ายินดีนี้เพื่อช่วยโปรโมทองค์กร UNICEF ที่ช่วยเหลือและสนับสนุนแม่และลูกในชุมชนต่างๆ ที่ขาดแคลนเจ้าหน้าที่ทางการแพทย์โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิงในช่วงวิกฤตการระบาดของโคโรน่าไวรัส
ตั้งแต่แจ้งข่าวการตั้งท้องในเดือนมีนาคมจากมิวสิควิดิโอ “Never Worn White” Katy ก็แชร์บันทึกว่าที่คุณแม่กับแฟนๆ ทางโซเชียลมีเดียมาตลอด
เธอเคยให้สัมภาษณ์กับ Zane Lowe ด้วยว่าเธอ “กลัว” กับการเป็นแม่คนมากและต้องใช้เวลานานในการปรับใจให้พร้อมเป็นคุณแม่
“ที่ฉันมีลูกช้า ตอนอายุ 35 ก็คงเป็นเพราะฉันกลัวการมีลูกนั่นเอง เมื่อก่อนฉันไม่พร้อมจะเป็นแม่คน เพราะถึงเวลาที่ต้องร้องไห้และเสียใจ ฉันแบบ ‘ไม่รู้จริงๆ ว่าจะทำยังไงดี’!”
แต่พอเธอเตรียมใจพร้อมเป็นคุณแม่ได้แล้ว เธอกับ Orlando ก็แพลนมีลูกด้วยกัน สิ่งเดียวที่เธอไม่ได้คาดการณ์ไว้ก็คือการระบาดของโควิด-19
ส่วน Orlando นั้นมีลูกชายอายุ 9 ขวบแล้วกับอดีตภรรยานางแบบสาวสวย Miranda Kerr และเขาพร้อมเป็นพ่อของลูกอีกคนและช่วยสนับสนุนเธออย่างเต็มที่
